PreTap: Implicit Reachability Analysis and Tap Prediction for One-handed Mobile Interaction

Published in Proceedings of the ACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquitous Technologies (IMWUT), Vol. 10, No. 3, Article 134 (UbiComp 2026), 2026

PreTap predicts imminent tap regions and infers user-specific reachability from inertial signals, allowing mobile interfaces to adapt before contact during one-handed use. The system combines a lightweight CNN–Attention model with unsupervised reachability analysis and was evaluated in a study with 50 participants.
